Under Namibian Skies
Adventures of An Astronomer in The Namib Desert

Between 2004 and 2011 I visited Sossusvlei Mountain (now 'Desert') Lodge, Namibia, as guest astronomer. A luxury lodge in the middle of the Namib Desert! My job was to show guests the wonders of the night skies each evening, using a Meade 12-inch telescope and my trusty green laser pointer. I met many wonderful people from all over the world, and never tired of the amazing Southern Hemisphere night skies.
During the day I explored the local landscape on foot or I jumped on board a Land Rover with guests as the ranger guided us through this incredible landscape.
Use the menu to explore each of my visits, view images of the landscape, or listen to the choir singing Namibian songs!
